Kyarah Doyle was unfazed as she lost her long locks as part of the Leukaemia Foundation's Shave for a Cure on Thursday.
The 12-year-old laughed and joked about cutting costs on shampoo and conditioner as Tempest Hair Design's Sarah Graham chopped off her long braids.
"It's a little weird," she admitted with a wide grin.
Inspired by her nan's successful battle with cancer, Kyarah is just $234 away from her $1000 fundraising goal, with some collection buckets yet to be counted.
"I'm proud of her," mum Jessica Smith said.
"It takes a lot of courage to do that. She's in her first year of high school."
To donate to Kyarah's cause, head to the World's Greatest Shave website and search her name before Monday, March 18.
