The 12-year-old laughed and joked about cutting costs on shampoo and conditioner as Tempest Hair Design's Sarah Graham chopped off her long braids.
"It's a little weird," she admitted with a wide grin.
"Breezy."
Inspired by her nan's successful battle with cancer, Kyarah is just $234 away from her $1000 fundraising goal, with some collection buckets yet to be counted.
"I'm proud of her," mum Jessica Smith said.
"It takes a lot of courage to do that. She's in her first year of high school."
