The four-week program, hosted by Inverell Shire Council through the NSW Youth Opportunities Program, saw participants gather at STA FM each Tuesday for an hour.
STA FM president Malcolm Really said Eli, Oskar, Hannah and Thomas responded well, leaving with different perspectives.
"The four participants learnt about recording, sponsorship and about projecting their voices.
"They did some on air stuff as well, they picked their own music, and we put that to air the last day."
Mal explained while all were curious to learn more about radio, each participant had their own specific area of interest.
Two of the youngsters were interested in presentation while the other two were keen to learn more about the technical side of radio.
Mal was excited STA FM would be hosting the program again in June with a maximum of five participants.
"[The program] provides youth with the opportunity of becoming a member of STA FM and doing some more formal presentation training, but it also provides the opportunity for the participants to move on to media when they leave school, they may want to go to university to attain that."
As president of STA FM, Mal was proud of the community radio station's reach and looked forward to the future.
"We have a limited footprint, but we are anticipating in increasing that as soon as funding becomes available."
Run by a committee, STA FM relies on volunteers such as Mal who has been with the station for an inspiring 10 years.
"This program wouldn't have happened without the support of Inverell Shire Council."
