Inverell athlete Emma McInnes secured the title of top open's female athlete in the Western Downs Tri Series.

The Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club Lone Star athlete has had a stellar 2019 triathlon series, adding to her achievements at the weekend.
McInnes competed in the final leg of the tri series in Roma, a sprint distance (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) race.
The talent finished two minutes in front of her nearest rival, tallying up her fourth win of the series, combined with a second and fourth placing.
According to a Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS) statement, McInnes backed up for the sprint triathlon on Sunday.
The local girl won, taking home the Roma Double Tri crown. In cooler, less windy conditions she shaved off over two minutes from her time the afternoon before, despite obvious fatigue.
McInnes will travel to Lake Macquarie this weekend for the 'Your Local Club Academy Games'.
The finest, young athletes from across the states will arrive for the academy games, hosted by the Hunter Academy of Sport (HAS), the event will be held across various venues across the region from Friday to Sunday.
The games features the emerging talent of 1300 athletes across eight sports including basketball, golf, hockey, netball, softball, triathlon, AFL and tennis.
The inclusion of triathlon is an exciting venture for the games, as they had not been involved in the past few years.
