Just under 100 visitors joined 30 locals to hit off at the start the New England Veteran's Week of Golf being held in Inverell this week.

Play got under way on Sunday with a 4-ball competition. This was won by Bill and Paula Livermore with 44 points. The Livermores come from Tallwood's Golf Club on the Manning Valley.
They were followed by six other pairs with 43 points.
Monday saw the first day of the main two-day stableford played with five of the six top places being taken by visitors.
For the men, Noel Burnett from Kew had the best score for the day with 39 points. He was followed in the men by Gary Stephens from Tuggerah and Graham George from Charlestown with 38 points.
Kath Guyer from Taree leads the women in a 3-way countback with local Di Shadlow and Margaret Teh from Redlands. All recorded 36 points.
Tuesday was a rest day and was followed on Wednesday by the second day of the main two-day stableford.
On Thursday players will compete in teams of four and record the best two stableford scores for each team. The day's play will be followed by a luncheon and presentation of the overall and division winners.
