"It's a good gathering for all the elders," Miranda Binge said.
"It means a lot of things. They get to meet people they haven't met before and see people who they haven't seen in years and years."
The two teams joined around 500 elders from across the country to test their speed, strength and agility in a wide range of physical challenges. Inverell has been participating in the exercise friendly competition for almost a decade.
A bright, sunny day following a night of rain, the conditions for the Port Macquarie event were perfect, but the locals knew nothing could quite top last year's Inverell-hosted games, which was named the town's Event of the Year on Australia Day.
"Everyone will say Inverell was the best," Joyce Livermore said. The local teams were still hearing compliments for the event 12 months on.
"We played the hoops, the football throwing, the hockey and the basketball," Priscilla Brown said. The Bear Eaters discovered a talent for softball throwing, while Gomeroi Elders were strong in the football passes and bean bag tossing.
Jamie Livermore was named dancer of the day, and awarded a lollipop for his efforts.
Vicky and Mary Duncan gave a fresh look to Gomeroi's banner, and the Bear Eaters were excited to discover a match to their uniform in one of the famous Port Macquarie koala sculptures, found all over the city.
The athletes are keen for next year's Olympics, to be held at Nambucca Heads. Both teams thanked their sponsors for the support.
