A 'Dancing with the Stars' inspired evening will be held at the RSM Club on June 14 to support Cancer Council NSW.
After only a day in Inverell, Cancer Council NSW community relations coordinator Tracey Cullen had already locked-in a number of keen "stars".
"The idea is to pair people from the community, the amateurs or stars, with semi-professional dancers. They learn a routine over a period of weeks and do fundraising throughout," she said.
Previously held in Tamworth, Ms Cullen decided Inverell was ready for its very own Dancing with the Stars.
Although the identities of participants have yet to be announced, she described a few as rugby blokes and business ladies.
"One wants to do a Bollywood routine, another lady is interested in a Spanish dance and the other wants to line dancing.
"I'm working on a rock and roll theme for one couple because I know there is a rock and roll festival around here and it would be a lot of fun to watch," she laughed.
In the lead up to June, stars and their partners will host fundraising events in a bid to win the highest fundraiser.
Other accolades up for grabs on the night will be a judges award and people's choice.
As a former Tamworth dancing star herself, Ms Cullen said the event was a little nerve wracking but very rewarding.
As the Cancer Council is 95 per cent community-funded the service relies on donations to continue providing support to those battling cancer.
"One of the main things we assist Inverell residents with is accommodation for cancer patients who have to travel to Tamworth for their treatment.
"This financial year we've saved $30,000 for Inverell residents by being able to offer our assistance."
Cancer Council also provide funding for research as well as financial, legal and home care. Cancer battlers are able to phone 13 11 20 with any questions.

"Inverell residents should keep an eye out for updates and fundraisers popping up soon," she said.
