Local returned servicemen Todd Cross dropped by the centre for a little show-and-tell in the lead up to Anzac Day.
Speaking with the children about the meaning behind and importance of the commemorative day, Todd shared his experience of the armed forces- at a developmentally appropriate level.
The serviceman showed the children, using a map, where he trained and served his country around the world.
Bringing with him his medals and uniforms, the children were able to examine them up close and personal.
The children described the medals as "shiny" and "heavy", asking "what do they mean?"
To say thank you for Todd's time and his service, the children drew and painted special pictures for him.
The children were able to link some already known details about Anzac Day including "poppies are in fields, they are red with little, black seeds".
The Little Sprouts team, and children, said they were very grateful for the opportunity to have a returned service personnel visit the centre.
"It is important that the children are aware of our history and take pride in our culture; thank you Todd."
