Inverell Police confirmed that the blaze, which is believed to have originated in the house's wood fire, began at approximately 1.01pm.
The female resident was taken to Inverell Hospital immediately with minor burns on her face and singed hair.
Half of the building was engulfed in the blaze, while the rest of the house was left severely smoke damaged.
Police reported that there were no suspicious circumstances, and their investigations are now closed.

Firefighters are working hard to contain a fierce blaze which is threatening to consume an Inverell home today, Tuesday, May 7.
Early reports indicate that the home is located in the vicinity of Bennett and Wood Streets. The fire appears to have begun in the early afternoon, before 1.30pm.
Initially labelled as out of control by the Rural Fire Service, Fire and Rescue NSW are working to extinguish the flames. The fire's status changed to in control at 1.50pm.
Inverell Police are also confirmed to be on the scene.
