Helena, who has been teaching pastel painting at the Inverell Art Gallery for 10 years, is passionate about the medium she first fell in love with in 1974.
"My mother gave me a box of pastel pencils and I just started off there," she said.
"I guess I was just hooked. I've always drawn all my life and painted, and I just love the medium."
Featuring animals in all shapes and sizes, still lifes and even a pair of landscapes, 42 of Helena's works are on display through to the beginning of June. The smallest is a portrait of a fish, with the largest a classic rural scene of three dogs on a ute. She said the pieces amounted to thousands of hourse of work.
"I'm thrilled to bits with it," Helena said.
"Many thanks to Kerry Cannon who owns Ceramic Break, and Barbara Mills who hung most of it. They did an absolutely brilliant job of displaying my artworks."
Helena is pleased to share the space with ceramicists Albert Verschuuren, Nicci Parry-Jones and Max Powel; along with papermaker Yvonne Ledingham.
"The potters are fantastic and Yvonne Ledingham's work's very good as well. It's worth having a look at Ceramic Break for the next month," she said.
Ceramic Break Sculpture Park is on Allan Cunningham Road, Warialda, with entry a gold coin donation.
