With the club forced to fold this season, Gary Lavender said the day will celebrate the two sides and keep interest up for possible future players.
The Old Boys Day will kick off around 12pm with some social bowls followed by a presentation at 3pm.
Lavender said there was "good interest" from 89' and 78' junior players.
"It's been 41 years for the 78' side. We played in Group 5 against Moree at Moree. Moree were always the favourite through the year and every time we clashed it was a hard battle. You never came out without losing blood or a bit of skin, we were coached by Kevin Dewberry."
The 89' juniors, coached by A-grader Russell Williamson, played in Group 4 against Narrabri. A tough, competitive competition, Inverell weren't pegged to win as Narrabri had three grades in the grand final.
"Narrabri never won and game and Inverell came out victors. That was 30 years ago now," he said.
For many former players, Saturday will be 40-odd years since catching up with their old team mates; a perfect opportunity to reminisce.
Life membership awards will be presented to club stalwarts Glen Partridge and Dave Cook.
"Glen has been involved with the club for 23 years as a player and committee member and Dave is sitting at 26 years.
"It's a fantastic effort, both men have played in winning grand final sides and David coached the winning league tag side last year. Both have been heavily involved behind the scenes as well.
"Without these people the club simply wouldn't run. They're always the first to put their hands up to help."
As for next year, Lavender remains hopeful the Inverell Hawks club will be back stronger than ever.
"Our aim is to keep things moving forward, we haven't died and gone. We want to gain player interest for next year and I've got a good coach lined up," he said.
