With plans for Sage 2 of the redevelopment released Mr Hazzard congratulated council and the community for their passion in fighting to secure the full redevelopment.

"I know the community has been campaigning for this redevelopment for nearly 40 years now, and to see it finally coming together is testament to the hard work of residents like Bob Bensley alongside the local Member, to make sure this project is delivered," he said.

"It makes me proud as the Minister to say once complete, this hospital will ensure Inverell has one of the best primary and allied health precincts in country NSW - all under the one roof.

"It really is fantastic to see this modern, state-of-the-art hospital taking form."

Mr Marshall thought it was important the Minister saw the new facility taking shape first hand, and had the opportunity to hear directly from the community on the benefits of this important project.

"It was great to see construction well underway this morning, and I thank the community for their enthusiasm for this redevelopment," he said.

The tour also provided an opportunity to continue preliminary discussions about announced upgrades to Moree ($80 million) and Glen Innes ($20 million) hospitals. From Inverell the Ministers travelled to Glen Innes and then on to Armidale, where he took in the recently upgraded $60 million Armidale hospital.

While further details regarding the redevelopment of Moree and Glen Innes hospitals still seem thin on the ground, it is encouraging that the "shopping list" of expanded health care services and facilities to be delivered by the redeveloped Inverell Health Service seems way more comprehensive than the wish list we once had.
