Lucy, daughter of JR and Liz McDonald of 'Ponjola' Moree and the fourth generation family member of the County of Burnett CWA, won first prize in the state handicraft award for nine to 12 years for her beautiful patchwork quilt. She also received the junior achievement award at the state conference, held in Albury in May.
Lucy's love of patchwork came from being involved with the Coolatai Children's Learning of the Art, held each year in January at Coolatai.
She has won awards at both Warialda and Bingara shows for her patchwork and has also exhibited with other juniors in the 'Juniors Corner' at the Coolatai Patchwork and Quilt Exhibitions.
On Saturday, June 22 Lucy was presented with her certificates and award by Gwydir Group past state handicraft committee member Joyce Bowen and Gwydir Group president Roma Bundock at the group council meeting.
