Historically known as the state age championships, in 2019 we see a name change to the junior state titles, with 12s, 13s and 14s contesting the competition.
This year Inverell Netball Association is very excited to enter teams in all three age divisions.
They will travel to Penrith District Netball Association for the Division 4 of the Junior State Titles for 12U, 13U, 14U held from Saturday, July 6 through to Monday, July 9.
The 14's team is coached solely by Netball Association President (also our State Titles Convenor) Teena Myler.
Together with their manager Teresa Hall, the girls who are now in their third year together, are hoping for a top five finish at the state titles.
In the lead up they have been training twice weekly since the selection process in September 2018, and have attended Grafton, Tamworth, Inverell, Lower Clarence and Coffs Harbour Junior State Title carnivals and an All Age carnival at Armidale.
At the Armidale carnival they won their age division, and have had promising results at the junior state titles carnivals.
The INA 13's state titles team was selected late last year and commenced almost immediately with some intense training sessions.
The team started off participating in the Inverell Parkrun each week, encouraged by their coach Cammy Alliston and assistant coach Sherrie Finney, and their manager Simonette Halloran, which was fantastic for their fitness leading up to their first carnival in Grafton.
The girls train hard every Monday and Thursday afternoon alternating between fitness and skills.
Even though the team endured injuries and sickness throughout the carnivals they still gave 100 per cent at every game they played.
The coaching team has worked extremely hard with the girls throughout their training sessions and during the carnivals, teaching them the important values of team work, positive attitudes and to always support and encourage each other, on and off the court.
During our last carnival at Coffs Harbour the girls were up against some tough opposition teams but their commitment on court proved they are ready to take on the Junior State Titles Championships in Sydney.
The 12's Junior State Titles team will participate in their first State Carnival in Penrith in July. Having been selected late in 2018 they have undertaken two training sessions per week, developing their skills, fitness and team work.
They are coached by Kaitlin Driscoll (a past State Age player for INA) with the support of assistant coach Haylee Wyndham (also a past State Age player for INA). The team has also been supported by Manager Connie Adams.
During their lead up to the Junior State Titles they have competed in the Grafton, Tamworth, Armidale, Inverell and Coffs Harbour carnivals. They have had some strong results with noticeable improvements at each carnival.
Being their first year in the representative space, the junior members of the association's representative squad are looking forward to participating at the state titles carnival, learning from the experience and developing as a team and individual players.
