The NPG is a festival of sport for children aged U8-14 from across the country competing over two days in a carnival atmosphere hosted by the Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS).
Sports on offer includes netball, football, rugby league, tennis, wheelchair basketball and gymnastics.
Inverell FC president John Rosberg said local players were given good field time and quality opposition throughout the carnival.
"Teams from Central Coast Sport College came up, then there was Armidale, Gunnedah, Tamworth, Moree, Narrabri and Gosford across different divisions."
Inverell entered around six teams from 8s up to 14s. Games depended on how many teams were in each pool but Rosberg said most local teams played between four to six games on Saturday.
Players then turned up on Sunday and played at least another three. He was pleased with the skill and sportsmanship shown by Inverell teams.
"One Inverell 14s side played in pool B and won their pool. I think the 10s won theirs too and the 12s did particularly well finishing well in the top end."
Inverell's 14s (pool A), 12s and 9s (pool B) sides finished up in fifth place, while the 8s (pool B) and 8s (pool A) finished in second.
Rosberg said there were around 15 teams split between two pools in the 14s division allowing "quite a lot of good football" to be played.
Last year Inverell FC entered two sides into the NPG, they returned this year with more than double.
"I think the games will be something we do every year from an Inverell FC point of view," he said.
The NPG embraces inclusivity, enjoyment, friendship in sport and sportsmanship as its core values all of which are celebrated through the Spirit of the Olympics.
Inverell FC players have a fair few carnivals coming up to look forward to including Glen Innes on August 4, Armidale the weekend after, Gunnedah's carnival in September and another in Moree.
"There's going to be good football played around the region."
