This interactive, educational workshop presentation and online guide have been developed to explore the concept of resilience, how to get preventative and proactive advice as well as how to build skills to be prepared for adversity if and when it's experienced.
With support from ClubsNSW for the school-based workshops and the Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECCPHN) for the community workshops, the free events will be held next week in Inverell.
Developed by ManageSport's Founder and Director, Peter Annis-Brown, BOUNCEuP is a 90-minute interactive workshop that is based on the idea that just like our physical health and strength, mental health and resilience can be improved with training and practice.
BOUNCEuP takes a preventative and preventative approach that uses sport and exercise-based terminology and examples to help people learn and digest the information provided.
"The initial idea for BOUNCEuP came as a result of the Mental Health First Aid courses that I run and the feedback from participants about how it has helped them in crisis situations and dealing with mental health conditions of those they care for.
Time and again I was asked about what skills, tools and tips could be used to develop, practice and maintain their mental health in a proactive and preventative way before ill health sets in.
"The interactive workshop is broken down into topics such as; What is resilience; Knowing yourself; Falling off your bike (coping with difficult situations); Training (Taking action to promote resilience) and Practice (maintaining your resilience). Just like your body, your mind can be trained and improved," Annis-Brown said.
