Bundarra president Jeff Cranfield said the Bears were defeated by Warialda twice during the season.

"We went up there in the major semi-finals with the attitude that if we could top them, it would be a major boost for the grand final, and that's what we did," he said.

Perhaps a good indication of how the grand final was going play out came in the first three minutes of play, when Bundarra leapt out to be ahead 6-0 after Brad Waters crossed the line to score and Jake Deaves converted the try.

"We got away to a flyer of a start," Cranfield said.

"They made a bit of a mistake from the kick-off."

Matt Cook scored nine minutes later and the Bears were leading 10-0. When Steve McGrady's try was converted by Jake Deaves, Warialda were on the ropes, 16-0 down, about 20 minutes into the first-half.

"It meant that Warialda had to chase us all day," Cranfield said.

"They're a hard team to beat, it doesn't matter what the score is."

"They gave plenty on the day, and we just hung in and stuck to our game plan and eventually we got there."

When Warialda's Corey Alexander's try was converted by Ashley Churchland, and Zac Parker scored another. The Wombats were back in business as the teams hit the sheds at half-time with the scoreboard of reading 16-10.

Back into the second-half and Wombats Ashley Churchland crossed the line, bringing the Bears lead down to 16-14, but it was as close as Warialda would get.

The bears tightened their game. Nick Dawson and Jacob David brought the Bears home with a try each to take the scoreboard to 24-14, before the final whistle sounded and the Wombats lost their second grand final in a row.

Cranfield said he hoped to have the same team again next year.

"We've done all right financially and looked after the blokes as best we could. They're a great mob of blokes and with a bit of luck we hope to get most of them back," he said.
