Ongoing support from the Australian Government's National Landcare Program has seen North West Local Land Services continue to offer targeted grants to landholders and community groups across their region to implement on-ground works.
North West Local Land Services Team Leader, Sara Chapman, said she is excited about the opportunities that land managers will have to implement on ground works on their properties.
"We look forward to continuing to work with landholders to improve the condition of Threatened Ecological Communities like Brigalow, and to improve habitat for the Critically Endangered Regent honeyeater," Sara said.
"Further funding from Regional Land Partnerships investment under the Australian Government's National Landcare Program has also been secured till 2023 to assist land managers build collaboration to enhance the Ramsar wetland sites in and near the Gingham and Gwydir channels. This can be achieved through the implementation of on-ground works.
"On-ground works in these areas can include fencing to manage grazing in targeted areas, installation of alternative water points, weed control and tree planting."
"The ongoing support of the National Landcare Program has allowed us to support farmers and community groups to achieve some amazing results on-ground, and we look forward to continuing to do this," Sara said.
"If you would like to know more or are interested in being involved, please speak with an NRM officer at your local LLS office."
