For many years now, Louise has coordinated the setting up and running of stalls to sell Daffodil Day merchandise around Inverell.

Simply put, she said she was passionate about helping and giving back and the stalls provided her the opportunity to do just that.

This year, there will be three stall set up on Friday, August 23. One will be out the front of IGA, another at Best and Less and the third at Big W.

"This year Cancer Council (CC) decided to stick to the original Daffodil Day theme years ago with pins and flowers. We do have merchandise left over from previous years that we'll also be selling," she said.

Residents are being encouraged to buy a daffodil or a pin to support the day.

High school students will be walking around selling merchandise and raffle tickets for those who aren't able to pop down to a stand.

The stalls will be open from around 8.30am until 4pm on Friday. Inverell's prostate cancer group will be covering the industrial area and Ring Street.

"Businesses in Inverell have kindly donated some items towards the raffle. There will be butcher vouchers, family photo portrait vouchers, something from AK Bellinger Gallery and a led light frame from Inverell Art Gallery plus more."

The raffle will be drawn the following day, on Saturday, at IGA at around 10am with winners being notified straight away. "I can deliver the prizes on Monday."

Louise said everyone has had cancer touch their lives in one way or another, be it personally or a friend or family member.

Money raised this Daffodil Day Appeal will help fund some of the brightest researchers in the country who are dedicated to discovering the next cancer breakthroughs.
