The 19-year-old will ride in four of the five races at Inverell Jockey Club this Saturday; feeling optimistic after a stellar start to her career so far.
Lewis' first dream job was to become a jockey and after joining Tamworth-based, Sue Grill's stable in December 2017 she was one step closer.
As an apprentice, she had to complete at least 20 trial races before she could race. Her first ride fell into place beautifully when Hammoon Dancer won the $12,000 Downtown Magazine Class 1 & Maiden Plate (1600m).
"Sue said I should be up there so I jumped and was able to get the lead and to the fence pretty easy. I kept at a nice tempo and when I went into the straight I just kept saying 'C'mon girl, c'mon girl and she kept going over the line in first for me," Lewis laughed.
Ten days later the teenage apprentice raced at Tamworth once again and scored a second first place riding Buon Natale.
Then five days after her success at Tamworth, Lewis continued her winning streak at Wellington riding Golden Avenger.
"The plan was to try and be leading most of the way but the two outside of me were in a speed battle so I pulled out and sat a close third. I was patient and waiting until the straight and Golden Avenger just kicked away."
Three more wins followed for Lewis on August 3 at Coonamble on Fine Behind, August 13 at Quirindi on Call Me Brad and most recently, August 19 at Gunnedah riding Cannizzaro.
Putting in the work and dedication to ensure her strict diet and gym routine is met to stay fit, Lewis feels prepared heading into Saturday's events.
"I'm excited to be coming home to Inverell to race. I've got four rides and am pretty happy with all four. I think they can all run a good race."
