But it doesn't mean there won't be any cricket played in the town.
The association made the decision at their recent Annual General Meeting to cancel the competition but president Nigel Sharman said it has been on the cards for a while.
"Unfortunately the writing has been on the wall for the last two years, I would say," Sharman said.
"Just a shortage of players. There have been teams play where they have only seven or eight players and that has been a regular occurrence.
"It has been slowly dwindling away and this year is the year where she has gone down the gurgler."

Despite the disappointing decision to cancel the local competition, Glen Innes have nominated a team to play in the weekly Inverell senior tournament.
"Hopefully we will pick up quite a few numbers to play in our team so we have more than enough players so that players can be rotated," Sharman said.
"We are looking for around 20 to 25 players around the books.
"We should pick that up no worries.
"It would be great if we can put them to shame in their own comp and build from there."
They have also opted to enter the Connolly Cup competition where they went within one match of a grand final last season.
"Nathan Purvis has still nominated us for the rep season so we are still going to put a team in there," Sharman said
"Good practice to play in the Inverell comp and try ascertain a Glen Innes team out of that to play the MA Connolly Cup."
