The five-year-old chestnut gelding, a son of Golden Archer, has won four of his 19 starts for almost $70,000 in prize money.
"I've given him six starts and he's won four and run two seconds for me," Nathaniel Scott said after the narrow win. They said he was a speedy squib, couldn't find the line when I got him.
"He just needs someone to get him to lift. He's a lovely horse and looking for more ground."
Yvette Lewis' 2kg claim also helped the big chestnut and was her 17th win of the HNWRA season. She leads the apprentice's premiership and enjoying her riding profession.
"Nathaniel has this horse firing. He's a tough old bugger, just kept giving for me."
She was unsure whether he had lasted but delighted when she was semaphored the victor denying Peter Sinclair his fifth winner of the day.
She also thanked everyone who has helped her in her apprenticeship, especially Tamworth trainer Sue Grills, who she is endentured too, and HNWRA chief steward Shane Cullen.
