The 2020 Buy a Bale Drought Breaker 7s competition will be held on Saturday and Sunday, with a total of $10,000 up for grabs, including equal prize money for the men's and women's winners.
"It should be an exciting weekend," Inverell Highlander Jock Barnett said.
"There's 18 teams, mostly local, 12 men's and six women's...from Armidale, Glen Innes, Moree, Tamworth, Coffs Harbour, and Inverell."

The Inverell Highlanders are entering four teams in the tournament, including three men's and one women's.
"It's good to see the boys have got the numbers to put three teams in, that's exciting. We're looking forward to the main season," Barnett said.
"It's a huge test of fitness before the season kicks off. There'll be a lot of players returning from holidays who might notice that their fitness is lacking."
Not only will there be plenty of exciting action on the field, there is also a wide range of entertainment on offer off it.
Local band The Stunned Mullets will be putting on a great show on Saturday night, and there will be a number of local caterers creating some delicious food throughout the weekend.
"Everyone's welcome of course. We're really looking forward to seeing our women's teams compete," Barnett said.
This year's event has been well supported by Rural Aid and Buy a Bale.
"They were really kind to give us some money to run the event," Barnett said.
Pool games will kick off at 2pm on Saturday and will run through until 7pm before the evening entertainment begins.
Kick off for finals on Sunday will be 9am, with the day wrap up by 2pm.
