The project is likely to be finished around four weeks ahead of schedule, which Mr Michael was thrilled with.
"From the start they thought it might be about 16 weeks and we started just after January 6," Mr Michael said.
"We've progressed that we're just about finished most of the works now. We've opened the street back up again in all sections so we're very happy with that result."

At this stage, all work will be officially completed by Friday, April 3.
"There's two lots of work to happen," Mr Michael said.
"The asphalt work will commence on March 16 and it will go for three nights. We're going to run them at night so it doesn't disrupt businesses.
"The tree planting will commence on March 24 and completed by the 31st and then after that the project is completed."
There are still barriers along the street where the trees have been removed, but overall Mr Michael believes any disruptions were only minor.
"The workers have done an extremely good job. I think they've learned from Otho Street so I think they've picked up efficiencies from there," he said.
"Of course there was some disruption to businesses but I think it was quite minor compared to the Otho Street businesses."
A few businesses along Byron Street were able to use back entrances to ensure customers could still access them.
Mr Michael praised the efforts of everyone involved in completing the project so quickly.
"I congratulate the Shire workers because they've done a great job," he said.
"They've worked 12 hour days to get the job done and the end result has been great. As soon as the bitumen has been fixed and the crossing it should be fantastic."
