The Hawks weren't able to get enough numbers to put together a side last year, but as the 2020 season draws closer, things are looking much more promising.
"We've got good numbers in the men's and good numbers in the juniors," Inverell Hawks committee member David Koch said.
"We're probably looking for a few numbers in the girls league tag but everything is looking positive there."
Anthony Dunn will take on the coaching role for the senior men's side, Matt Cook will coach the ladies league tag and Nick House will lead the under-18s.
"They've all been very positive. Training's been great, we've been getting a good roll-up to training on Tuesday and Thursday," Koch said.
"We've probably been averaging a dozen first graders and probably 10 juniors and five or six of the girls. We're just looking to boost that up over the next couple of weeks.
"We've got a month until the competition starts but Steve Constable, our president, has been working hard behind the scenes getting everything up and running. We're looking forward to it."
Group 19 has gone through a bunch of changes for the upcoming season, as the second division was scrapped and the two competitions were merged.
The competition will feature a western and eastern conference, with Inverell to play in the western conference.
"It's disappointing that Warialda won't have a team and Bingara, it's disappointing, but I think the players are looking forward to the competition because even though we're in the western conference, a lot of our games will be pretty much close by," Koch said.
The draw was released this week, and the Hawks will travel to Bundarra to take on the Bears in round one.
They will also host Ashford Roosters in round two for a special Anzac Day clash, with the game to be played on the Friday night before Anzac Day.
Inverell also hosted the Coffs Harbour Comets on Saturday for a trial game, and while the Comets won comfortably, Koch said it was still a "good hitout."
"We haven't played for 12 months. There were some small teething problems, but the boys enjoyed it," he said.
There is no specific goal for the club in 2020 but Koch said they're just focusing on getting the club back up and running after a year off.
"We'd obviously like to do well, but we're sort of more set on getting the club going, supporting our sponsors...and also just enjoying each other's camaraderie and company and getting a social set up a bit more," he said.
"We're just keen for people to get on board. We're going to try and do a few things different in regards to our games this year; try and do a few Friday night games.
"We're just happy to get on board and for people to get behind us."
The Inverell Hawks' first game against the Bundarra Bears will be be on Saturday, April 18.
