62 ladies came along to Delungra Bowling Club last Thursday, where they were able to enjoy a free morning tea and lunch while also taking in important information from a variety of guest speakers.
"It was absolutely fantastic," HealthWISE Primary Health Care nurse Chris Connor said.
"The whole day was really lovely. We had a good cross section, we had younger women and we had older women."
Some of the speakers on the day included Shaen Fraser from Cancer Council who spoke about health awareness, Rural Aid's Narelle McDonald who shared information and sign on advice for entitlements and kidney transplant recipient Nicole Scholes-Robertson.
"She came and spoke to the ladies about her journey from having kidney disease, she used to have to do dialysis, then after the transplant she came and spoke about the signs and symptoms of kidney disease," Ms Connor said.
"Shane came and spoke about the importance of having your testing done.
"I did a presentation on the day and we just talked about generally looking after yourself, going and having your testing done.
"And then Narelle McDonald, she actually spoke on what Rural Aid provides and what assistance they can give to the farmers and also Lee Clissold spoke about the role that Landcare plays."
Landcare partnered with HealthWISE to provide the lunch, and the CWA helped provide the morning tea on the day, as well as handing out gift packs for every lady in attendance.
Health checks were also available, and Ms Connor said there was some great feedback received on both the speakers and the day as a whole.
"62 women at Delungra is not heard of," she said.
"To get that many...it's fantastic to get a roll up of that.
"It's about wellness and wellbeing and women that are caretakers of their families, providing them with the information and then going home and being able to utilise it."
HealthWISE are now preparing to host another Ladies Day Out in Gravesend on Thursday.
"We've got some fantastic speakers. We've got women's health nurses, Jane McGrath nurses," Ms Connor said.
"Shayne Frazer is coming again. We're going to do a little bit on the coronavirus, just a little bit on making certain people are aware of the hand hygiene and all that sort of stuff."
