As a frequent supporter of Fill Coffee and Thistle Flowers, Sarah Campbell began thinking of a way locals could give back while social distancing at home.
A 'spread the love with caffeine and flora' initiative flourished and so far the feedback from recipients has been overwhelmingly positive.
"Fill Coffee have an app called HeyYou where you can make a virtual donation when buying your normal coffee. You can opt to donate however much you want and that will be put in the kitty.
"If you want to do a bulk order, for example we sent coffees up to the school office with a bunch of flowers, you can either call Kate or Em, or myself and I can help organise that," she said.
People who need to be in Otho Street can also grab a take-away coffee for themselves and have the option to pay for an extra coffee.
Once enough money is built up in the kitty, a coffee and flower order will be put together and donated to local people in essential job positions.
"Or say a health care worker comes in, we'll give them a free coffee out of the kitty, or if we have enough, we'll shout a whole office," Sarah said.
Holy Trinity School, St Elmo's Medical Practice, Windsong Travel, Campbell and Freebairn and the hospital's emergency department have all had special deliveries of delicious coffee and beautiful flowers.
"We had a lady pay for coffee and a bunch of flowers to be delivered to New England Chiropractic this week. It's been fantastic so far, people can share the love from the confines of their home and support local businesses at the same time.
"Matt has created a special bunch of $20 flowers if people want to add them to a coffee order or just pay for flowers by themselves. Matt also delivers the orders."
During this global pandemic, many local people are feeling stressed and certain job roles are facing all time high work loads. Sarah hopes the special deliveries will help show Inverell's appreciation.
"The school's vice-president said it really brightened their day receiving a delivery. Things were so stressful getting school work online so it was nice for them to take a break and enjoy coffee and flowers."
Take a minute to show your appreciation. Make a donation through the HeyYou app or phone Sarah on 0427 248 400 to make a bulk order. Matt at Thistle can be reached on 0408 180 655 and Fill Coffee on 0448 084 308.
