There's plenty of celebrations happening for local organisation HealthWISE, as it reaches its fifth birthday.
It's a milestone that was by no means guaranteed when the for-purpose charity was first created.
But with a mixture of hard work and confident leadership, HealthWISE has cemented itself as a trusted health care provider across the region, and has expanded into the Darling Downs West Morton regions of QLD.
"We've built a team of skilled and hard working staff who live locally and are passionate about the organisation's purpose of 'creating better health for our communities," chief executive officer Fiona Strang said.
"Rural and regional communities often face barriers to accessing health services. We aim to help people overcome some of these barriers."
Programs support people across their lifespan; from speech pathology services for children, to healthy ageing programs for the elderly.
Clinical and Aboriginal health services support clients' physical health, mental wellbeing and recovery. Education and screening programs enable people to make healthy lifestyle choices.
The organisation will also be releasing an eLearning program soon for early childhood educators based upon the successful 'Sounds good to me' program.
Ms Strang remains positive about the future of HealthWISE and has confidence that the board and leadership team will keep providing "solid strategic direction with an understanding of the strength and opportunities ahead for business".
"Thank you to our community and stakeholders for your trust and support over the last five years," she said.
HealthWISE utilises federal and state government funding to work alongside general practitioners to support people's health and wellbeing.
With offices in Armidale, Glen Innes, Goondiwindi, Gunnedah, Inverell, Ipswich, Moree, Narrabri and Tamworth, HealthWISE delivers a range of health services and programs to vulnerable populations.
