Young Ashton was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, earlier this year.
At the time Ashton and his mother Annemaree were rushed to John Hunter hospital the country was in lock down due to Coronavirus.
This meant Dad Greg and Ashton's three older brothers Liam 12, Aidan 10 and Luke 9, had to remain in Inverell. An established GoFundMe has since raised more than $17,000 for the local family.
Benefit organiser Shirley Higgins and her daughter-in-law Kristi-Lee hope the August event provides an opportunity for locals to have a fun night out whilst raising money for the family.
"We've been through drought, fires, Coronavirus- the lot. We decided to get some auctions, raffles, lucky door and lucky dip prizes together with some live entertainment to make it an exciting night for all."
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 100 tickets are available to attend the fundraiser. With a tonne of quality items up for grabs, it would be a shame to miss the auction.
James Higgins will act as the night's MC with Tingha RSL sub-branch president Bob Clark booked in as the auctioneer.
With her multi-coloured hair, Shirley hit the streets asking businesses to support the fundraising night.
To assist with fundraising on the GoFundMe page, Shirley made a pledge to die her hair from gray to rainbow once $11,000 was raised.
"Inverell has been so awesome, not one person has said no. They've really stood behind this little man and his family," she said.
Up for grabs is a four-person, two-night stay near Bundaberg, a load of quality wood and so much more.
"We've still got more prizes to add to the list. There will also be a fire engine with Ashton's name on it set up collecting donations."
Retro Rockers Pete and Vicky Denovan will provide entertainment.
With blue-green, purple, red and yellow in her hair, Shirley became emotional when talking about the support Inverell has shown for Ashton and his family.
"I'm so pleased to call Inverell my birth town. I'm glad to be a country person because this town has really come together."
If you can't make the fundraising evening there's still plenty you can do to help the family- head to The Australian Cafe where a donation box has been set up, check out the GoFundMe page, or buy a 'Help Ashton Kick Cancer' car sticker for just $5.
There is also ongoing auctions on the 'Help Ashton Kick Cancer' Facebook page.
"If you can't do those things, you could pray, pray for this family because it is hard for them right now; especially being split up."
