Artists are being encouraged to embrace the theme 'Country of Extremes'. Entry forms are now available from the Inverell Art Gallery in Evans Street and online.
The 10 sections are: Open Art, Local Artist, Special Theme, Miniature Art, Ceramics, 3D, Photography, Creative Fibre and Textiles, Applied Art and Young Artist.
People's Choice and Packers' Prize will also be up for grabs.
Due to COVID-19, there were uncertainties around the opening night event and whether it would be allowed to run.
Thankfully, with easing restrictions, the date has been scheduled for October 10 in conjunction with the Sapphire City Festival.
An increase in prize money has seen the overall amount up for grabs rise to $6,700 plus Inverell Shire Council's acquisition of up to $3,500 and Inverell Art Society's acquisition of up to $1,500.
Entries to the Inverell Art Prize will close on September 11 at 4pm to allow enough time for judging and setting up for the official opening.
Afterwards, the gallery will be close from Saturday, October 3 for the exhibit hanging. Limited tickets are available to attend the night.
Those who miss the opening night will still be able to view the exhibit on Sunday, October 11 from 10am to 1pm, then from Monday to Friday 10am until 4pm and 10am until 1pm on Saturday.
