Inverell's Breakfast Toastmasters Club recently held their annual changeover in a different way this year, using a Zoom venue.
The meeting had a formal aspect followed by an informal fun time. The Club was happy to welcome new president David Maddigan.
Executive members supporting Mr Maddigan include Margaret Payne, who is also the division director for the second year), Ros Scoble, Heather Kerridge, Di Barber and Jacki Watts.
Speeches were made to thank the outgoing executive for the great job they have done, especially during the most challenging months of this year's isolation and social distancing requirements.
This was followed by presentations to the Club's Toastmaster of the Year, Margaret Payne, the Most Improved Toastmaster, Heather Kerridge, and the President's Award which went to David Maddigan.
"We then enjoyed a hilarious and intriguing time, where some of us told tall tales. Each one of these tales were hard to believe and certainly seemed unlikely to have happened. Firstly, there was a baby rabbit whose ear was torn off by a cat. The remaining ear grew into the centre of the rabbit's head," Heather said.
"Then there was an amazing set of 'coincidences' where total strangers kept connecting in places across the world, without any planning. Another story was an intriguing account of a visit to the dentist. The winner of the competition was Di Barber. Her tell tale was about twenty-two rats, who, by a hilarious set of circumstances, ended up running wild, inside a lady's car."
The listeners then had to guess whether these tales were true or not!
Inverell Breakfast Toastmasters are now able to hold face-to-face meetings once again. The next meeting will be held on August 11 at the RSM Club.
"There are two special differences with our meetings now. One will be that we begin our meetings at 7am. This will be a very welcome new time, especially in the winter months. Secondly, the club is offering a new menu with a delicious range of hot breakfasts," she said.
Toastmasters welcome anyone who would like to attend the meeting and see what they do. For further information contact email@example.com.
