Local men took to the golf course throughout the weekend to complete two rounds of the Inverell Golf Club Championships for 2020.

A-grade golfer Phil Fox has a five-shot lead over John Coote in the gross competition at the halfway mark. Phil, with three championships under his belt is looking to pick up another on John who has 17 championships to his name.
Phil and John also lead the A-grade nett competition.
John Foulcher and Gordon Dean have played under their handicaps on both days over the weekend and they lead A-reserve.
John has a one shot lead over Gordon in the gross while Gordon has the lead by three in the nett. In a rare occurrence for any golfer, Gordon had six under his age off the stick on Saturday and three under on Sunday.
Tony Schutz had an impressive weekend to record the equal best nett score on both Saturday and Sunday.
He goes to a big lead in the B-grade gross, eight shots ahead of Adrian King and another one in front of Ted Edmonds and Ross Chilcott.
Adrian also had a very pleasing weekend finishing with nett 68 on each day and he finds himself only four shots behind Tony in the nett competition.

In form youngster, Harry Edmonds has an almost unbeatable lead of 15 shots in the C-grade gross. He is ahead of John Stansfield.
Ken Austin is within reach of Harry's nett score, six shots behind.
In D-grade, Peter Bucknell had two good rounds, recording nett 71 each time, and that has left him with a 10 shot lead on Ross Tutt in the gross and seven on Matt Flitcroft in the nett competition.
The final two rounds of the club championships will be played this weekend with a seed draw.

Meanwhile, Saturday's Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug was played in conjunction with the first round of the championships.
Tony Schutz took out the Mug in a countback with Gordon Dean. They each finished with nett 65, two shots in front of three other players.
Grade winners were A-grade- Gordon Dean, 65, B-grade- Adrian King, 68, C-grade- Harry Edmonds, 67, and D-grade- Matt Flitcroft, 68.
