Gloria Margaret Harper, of Brae Sreet, Inverell, known as Glory in her younger days, passed away on May 27, after celebrating her 90th birthday last year.

Gloria was the daughter of Charles and Margaret Gooda, born at the Garthowen Private Hospital, Inverell.
Gloria lived all her life around Inverell. During the depression years, Gloria's family lived at Rob Roy, with this house now at Pioneer Village.
Gloria first went to school at Rob Roy, then Ross Hill Public, followed by Inverell High, excelling in athletics. She left school at 14 and worked at Finlen's Menswear as a tailoress, gaining many lifelong friendships.
In Gloria's younger days, she loved country dances and travelled the countryside.
In 1956, Gloria married Robert Harper.
The first five years were spent in Inverell, they then moved to Rob Roy returning to Inverell in 1968.
Gloria enjoyed cooking, gardening, walking, and sewing. There was nothing that could not be fixed with a needle and thread.
Gloria retired from Finlens in 1987 after working there since 1944 with a break whilst she had children.
In her retirement, Gloria enjoyed visiting grandchildren and researching and gathering family history.
Gloria was instrumental in having the Turnham Carpark named after her family members who originally had a cordial and firewood business premises there.
Her husband Robert Harper passed away in 2008.
Gloria had a love for all animals, especially birds, cats and in later years' dogs.
Gloria's brothers, Hollis and Geoffrey pre-deceased her.
Gloria is survived by her children, Margaret (Inverell), Robert (Lennox Head), Colin (Dubbo), Murray and Peter (both of Inverell) and grand, great and great great grandchildren.
Gloria will be sadly missed by all.
