Inverell recorded a total of 95.8 millimetres of rain for the whole of winter, most of which (35.4mm) fell in June, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

August recorded 30.8mm, while July was even drier with only 29.8mm falling.

However, it was still significantly higher than last year's winter rainfall, with only 31.6mm falling across the three months.

Winter in 2018 was wetter than this year, with a total of 123.8mm.

While the total rainfall was more than the last winter, it was only 77 percent of Inverell's winter average of 123.9mm.

And although Inverell had a number of frosts this winter, the mean minimum and maximum temperatures were pretty much average.

Inverell's coldest winter morning was on August 6, when the temperature dropped to -6.5 degrees.

Overall, the mean minimum temperature for winter this year was 1.1degrees, while the mean maximum temperature was 17.3 degrees.

Our warmest winter day was the very last day of August and winter, which saw the temperature reach a pleasant 22.7 degrees.

So far this year, Inverell has received 574.4mm of rain, which is already significantly higher than last year's total of 241.2mm, and beats 2018's 520mm total.

The BoM's spring outlook indicates a wetter-than-average three months for the eastern two thirds of Australia, with warmer-than-average days and nights.
