COVID put the brakes on the NSW Police Legacy ride, but the wheels are still turning locally to fundraise for the cause.
Inverell's Darren Wilkins and Tamworth's Simon Tolhurst are leading the charge on the ride for the police family.
Together with a group of supporters and cyclists, the 'Peeler's are hitting the road to raise awareness and funds for Police Legacy.

"This year because of COVID, some of the police have taken it upon themselves to challenge themselves to ride 235km in one day from Inverell to Tamworth," Detective Senior Constable Tolhurt told The Inverell Times.
"It's no easy feat."
The ride will take off from Inverell, winding its way to Bingara and Barraba and down to Tamworth on November 14.

The team have raised a few thousand dollars already but are hoping to up the fundraising ante as the ride draws nearer.
In years gone by, the same riders have tackled a 300km distance over three days with the state's Police Legacy ride that usually sees hundreds ride from Sydney to Canberra.
While COVID saw that cancelled this year, riders - from the State Crime Command office and New England Police District - are still pushing the cause with a little help from their friends.
"It's certainly a challenge; most of us have never ridden this far," Detective Tolhurst said.
"It's only Wilko [Darren Willkins] that has ridden that distance in one sitting, but I think we're ready for it.
"It's a cause that's worthwhile and close to our hearts."
