The aim of this operation is to reduce the number of water-related incidents, including fatalities, and to prevent, disrupt and respond to criminal behaviour on and around waterways across NSW.
New England police during the Christmas and New Year period have had a highly visible policing presence at Copeton Dam and Pindari Dam.
This will continue throughout January 2021.

Inverell and sector staff have been deployed for this operation with the specific tasks to:
- conduct checks on trailers, vessels, persons and associates at boat ramps/marinas where boats and personal water craft (PWC) are first put into the water
- stop and speak with boat/PWC users on the water and apply various sources of legislation and safety compliance
- conduct general patrols of campgrounds
- perform RBT of drivers of vehicles on road/road-related areas
Chief Inspector Rowan O'Brien of the Inverell Police said policing activities had involved "officers in police launches, police trail bikes, as well as general duty patrols at boat ramps and in camping grounds".
"This enforcement aims to saturate our waterways and provide for a high-visibility response to encourage and achieve public safety on the water," Chief Inspector O'Brien said.
"In general terms, vessel user compliance has been very good with only a small amount of infringement notices being issued for failure to have the appropriate safety equipment."
