Jaimie Pay and Anthony Pages, along with their two-year-old daughter Olivia, were delighted to welcome baby Archie into the world on January 2.
He was born at 1.40 pm weighing 3.63 kilograms and measuring 51.5 centimetres in length.
Mum Jaimie said it was lovely to have her baby at the new hospital facility and that all staff in maternity were amazing.
"We are absolutely pleased to announce the arrival of our son, Archie," Ms Pay said.
"His big sister Olivia is so smitten with her baby brother."
Archie's due date was New Year's Eve but his parents say they are glad that he was a few days late.
"We were surprised to hear that Archie was the first baby born for the year at the Inverell hospital but pretty excited to say the least," Ms Pay said.
"The staff at the Inverell District Hospital were amazing and we can't thank the lovely midwives enough for their love, care and support.
"The facility at the new hospital is great and was nice to have a baby in the new building."
