The Macintyre River rose to daunting heights, hitting the expected 4.2m, however the water has now receded, but is just barely contained to its banks.
Fish are strewn across the walkways in Campbell Park, and one walkway light has been bent and pushed over from the force of water that rushed passed it.
Inverell SES unit are working hard on the clean up operation, after attending over 20 local jobs yesterday.

It was a 23 hour day for several of the crew members before getting back up again at 7.30am to tidy up loose ends and clean and stow gear "ready for next time".
Teams have been working hard on Ring Street Bridge, which was opened at 11am, and O'Connor Street Bridge and Mansfield Street roundabout.
'Rip' from McLachlan's Smash Repairs on the corner said they'd watched the water rise yesterday.
"But we were never worried about it coming any further," he laughed.
Inverell Shire Council has updated their roads list, announcing that the bridge over the Dumaresq River at Texas, on the border, is now closed.
In good news, Auburn Vale Road, Bundarra Road, Inverell to Ashford road, Mount Russell Road, Nullamanna Road, Pindari Dam Road, Roscrae Lane, Wells Crossing near Ashford, Woodstock Road, and Elsmore Road at Stannifer turn off are all now open.
