The singer-songwriter was in Tenterfield for the New England town's autumn festival, where she was among several artists, along with Shannon Noll and The Buckleys, who played a concert at the showground.

While there have been acoustic shows since October, Saturday was the first time Melanie has got to perform her songs with a full band.

Although it wasn't quite a case of getting the band back together. It was the first time the three musicians who played for her in Tenterfield had done so.

Drought and bushfires tested the Tenterfield community's resolve in late 2019 and early last year. The concert was organised in response and was sponsored by a $25,000 NSW Government grant, although it was delayed until this year due to the pandemic and restrictions on events.

Melanie treated the crowds to the songs from her album Fresh, and the singles that have followed. Her most recent release came about six months ago when it was all quiet on the live music front.

Melanie managed to get to Brisbane before the border between NSW and Queensland was closed last year, and recorded a new single 20s, which was released in September.

Meanwhile, Melanie also received the news recently she is a finalist in this year's APRA Music Awards with an earlier single.

Her song Memphis T-Shirt, which was a hit single early last year, has been nominated for Most Performed Country Work.

The awards presentation is on Wednesday, April 28 in Sydney, and will be hosted by Julia Zemiro, Ziggy Romo and Georgia Mooney.
