A body has been found in what police believe to be a tragic end to the five days of extensive searching north of Inverell.
The body is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be that of the missing man, a police spokesperson said.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
Allan 'Martin' Anderson, 65, was last seen at his home on Pindari Dam Road north of Inverell at Pindaroi about 11am last Wednesday.
He was reported missing to officers from New England Police District.
What followed was five days of extensive land and air searches, including New England and local police officers, Police Rescue Squad, PolAir, Police Dog Squad, SES, RFS, Ambulance, police divers - and a host of volunteers both on foot, on trail bikes, horses and more.
Those search efforts helped locate a body in the Pindaroi area at about 11am on Monday.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
