A statement from the Parliament of NSW said it will not sit in the month of August due to the intensifying COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

"The presiding officers are mindful of the public interest and the safety and health of all people who attend Parliament House," it said.
The parliament will sit again on September 7.
It comes as independent state MP Helen Dalton criticised the state government's decision to take vaccines away from regional NSW so that Year 12 students in Sydney can be protected ahead of their exams.
"We already have regional NSW residents waiting several months for their vaccine appointment," she said.
