Copeton's Michael Gerard Flanagan and Ashmont's Casey Poulet have pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them after an investigation involving the RSPCA late last year.
The pair's solicitor, Mr Clark, asked magistrate Brett Shields on Thursday for another adjournment due to the lengthy nature of the brief that was served on them.

"It's a large matter ... but we're having fruitful discussions," Mr Clark said.
The case had previously been adjourned in July as two expert veterinary witnesses were unable to review the required material, with one being hospitalised.
Mr Flanagan, a puppy breeder, has previously pleaded not guilty to 23 charges following a raid on a property near Copeton in December.
He has been charged with two counts of failing to provide veterinarian treatment to an animal under his control; one count of failing to provide sufficient food to an animal; and several counts of failing to comply with his requirements as a proprietor.
Ms Poulet has also previously pleaded not guilty, facing one charge for possessing a non-prescribed electrical device and nine charges of failing to comply with her requirements as a proprietor.
Mr Clark told magistrate Shields that the dogs in question were no longer being held by the RSPCA, which eased the sense of "urgency" the matters held previously.
An email was tendered to court by the RSPCA signaling they held no issue with the adjournment.
Both cases will come before Inverell Local Court again on October 21.
