Mick Trevithick's Handyman, Mowing and Maintenance has been named as a finalist in the region's Business NSW awards in the 'Outstanding Start-up' category.
"We were shocked," Casey Trevithick laughed. "We didn't celebrate so much as call everyone up to tell them the news."

In June last year, with three children and another one on the way, Mr Trevithick decided he needed to find a new niche.
Having worked at Inverell Shire Council for a decade, he called time and started doing a few odd jobs around the town, the husband and wife duo began to see a real demand for handyman services.
"There was that real gap in the market here in Inverell," Mrs Trevithick explained. "So we invested our savings into starting up this business, and it's just grown from there."
Starting with three clients in the first month or so, their books expanded exponentially in the next two months - with 75 people calling in their services on the regular.
Growing so big so rapidly saw Mrs Trevithick abandon the books - not completely - but to don the cap and help out in the yards too.
They say they're not looking to expand any further by putting on another employee at this stage - with insurance premiums being as high as they are - but say it may be a future consideration. Instead, they make sure to recommend other locals to keep business in town.
And while some out there may wonder at the prospect of working with their significant other, not these two. They've got their rhythm down pat.
"We've been married for 14 years next month, and we do everything together as a family," Mrs Trevithick said. "We quite enjoy it actually," Mr Trevithick added. The pair thanked the locals for their support in getting their small business off the ground.
Winners will be announced on October 29.
