What is your vision for the Inverell region?
My vision for our shire is to see it's continued growth, we have seen an increase in our population over the last few years, with continued growth this provides the opportunity for business expansion it also enables the possibility of more services for our community as it grows.
What do you think is the single most important issue facing the Inverell area?
I believe there are a number important issues facing our Shire community, some of which are councils responsibility and others are either State or Federal issues. At a council level it is important to maintain our vital infrastructure to a standard that our community expects (eg Roads).
This is always a challenge as maintenance costs are rising faster than revenue, as for State and Federal issues it is important that we as a council advocate on our communities behalf on issues.
What projects/developments do you intend to advocate for if elected as a councillor?
If reelected, the major project I would like to see completed is the redevelopment of the Inverell Aquatic Centre.
What expertise or attributes do you have which would help you in undertaking the role of councillor?
I was first elected to Council in March 2004 and have served as Mayor since September 2012, so I have a good understanding and knowledge of how to get things done for our community.
I have served on the State board of Local Government NSW broadening my knowledge of issues from around NSW, outside of Council I managed my families' bus and coach company for over 20 years.
The company has since been sold and I have stayed on as an employee. I have served on the Board of BusNSW holding the Vice President's role for over five years.
