What is your vision for the Inverell region?
My vision is to have a healthy and safe community built on a strong economy with sustained growth through Inverell's continued commitment to excellence in Local Government where people can access the provision of services to boost the quality of life for all.
What do you think is the single most important issue facing the Inverell area?
The most important issue for some people will not necessarily be the same for others. For some it will be issues around aspects of health (physical, mental wellness, emotional, safety from violence) for others the economy, with job security built around sustainable infrastructure, yet for others issues around education, and how we look after the environment.
What projects/developments do you intend to advocate for if elected as a councillor?
It would seem prudent to consider what comes before the new council, either issues raised by the community or infrastructure issues raised by the staff. I would continue to encourage Inverell Shire to advocate both the State and Federal Governments for road funding. I would continue to advocate for the village of Delungra and in particular for to upgrade the playground in ANZAC park.
What expertise or attributes do you have which would help you in undertaking the role of councillor?
I have completed the Australian Company Directors Course and have a good understanding of the importance of accountability and good governance. I have held a number of executive and committee positions (local/state/national) within the Uniting Church and bring good people skills to tasks, with the ability to see both sides of an issue. I believe active listening is an asset which enables a person to focus completely on a speaker, understand their message and responding thoughtfully and appropriately.
