Coming out of a weekend where over 100mms fell across most parts of the Shire, Deputy Captain Joerg Gruenfel said they were waiting to see what the changing weather forecast looked like for this weekend - but one thing was for certain: it's going to get wetter.
La Nina? Well, it's now been declared.
With the BoM officially declaring 'La Nina' in action, Mr Gruenfel espoused the importance of prevention being the best cure when it came to flooding.
This time around, the Macintyre River peaked at less than three metres. He explained that Inverell CBD businesses should only be worried when it's expected to reach the five metre mark.
"With the wet weather that's predicted , we would strongly encourage businesses to have a flood plan," he said.

While there is a few dry days, he said now is the time to prepare. Make sure gutters are clean and clear, inspect rooves for wear and tear, especially tile rooves which can have cracks or missing mortar.
Mr Gruenfel said pleasingly, many who'd been impacted by the flooding events in March had begun mitigation works to prevent damage to their properties again.
From moving items to higher ground, to raising tin fences and putting mesh on the bottom to allow water to pass through, could and would make a huge difference.
Also, simple things like making sure pipes and gutters were clean and clear of debris could protect homes from damage.
"We have a really strong, small core group of volunteers, but if anyone has the time to help out in the upcoming wet season, please reach out".

Not all bad
"We are going gangbusters here at the moment," Reflections Copeton Waters manager, Paul Irwin, said.
"Greater Sydney has opened up and people are rebooking their long-awaited holidays with us again. We are seeing lots of families, boating enthusiasts and people who just love to fish."
With Copeton at max capacity, the inflow of visitors is expected to increase - from already pleasingly high levels.
Copeton Reflection's Guest Services Officer Paige Hobday said a fishing competition held recently saw almost a hundred fishing enthusiasts coming in from as far as Armidale and Glen Innes.
