Maurie Burke said the club was opened up for people to go and see the improvements made to the club.
“We’ve got a sprung floor up the back of the gym now,” Maurie said.
“We’ve got a ball pit in the Kindie Gym room and we’ve finished off a fair bit of the painting.”
Maurie said she was happy with the numbers on the day and the improvements cost ‘heaps’.
“We had about 16 little kids through and some big kids too. The best part of the day was the people coming to see the improvement we’ve made and some of the girls showing people what they could do,” she said.
“Just the sprung floor, that was over $15,000 ... that went up the back of the gym.
“We sold chocolates at the end of last year to pay for the floor. It was a lot of chocolates and all the girls who come to the gym sold them. Pretty much every family took them home and sold them. It took just over 12 months to raise the funds.”
Maurie said the ball pit cost another couple of hundred dollars and the paint for downstairs was donated by lots of businesses in town.
“At the moment we’ve got 53 people coming to the gym and we’re hoping more ill come in,” Maurie said.
“We’d like another 50 so we’re about half way there.”
