Disillusioned with cutbacks made by the current state government, Ms Nicholson registered her candidacy yesterday morning.
Ms Nicholson said the issues she would be campaigning around include keeping public services in local communities, investing in education from preschool, to school, TAFE and university and creating decent local jobs for local people.
She said she also wanted to protect agricultural land and water, retain public infrastructure in taxpayers' hands, provide decent services to children, young people, seniors and families and safeguard our communities and National Parks.
