A successful grant from the NSW Government netted $25,000 for the construction of an all-abilities gym, similar to the structure in Campbell Park, in Northey Park.
Inverell Rotary members Des Adams and Bob Neich were both behind the effort and it has a special meaning for Des.
“Des has put his heart and soul into this,” said fellow member Larry Cameron.
The Tingha Tigers Club also received an award of $9000 to upgrade their dressing shed and toilet amenities at the Tingha grounds.
The Tigers’ publicity officer Chris Curtin was pleased.
“It’ll make it more comfortable for the players,” he said.
Other local winners in this funding round include the Inverell Minor League who can now install some new goal posts, seating and shade facilities at the Kamilaroi Oval with a grant for $8000, and the Inverell Golf Club who received $4800 toward the Women in Life Program structured to increase physical activity in rural commu-nities.
