“Footy’s 50/50 every day,” Bremner said.
“We can win if we reproduce the form we’ve had over the last few weeks, we’ve been playing well and the boys are due a bit of luck. It’s only size that’s been beating us.”
Bremner said he had been pleased with last week’s game against Moree, despite coming in second on the scoreboard.
“Take a couple of our little errors out in the first-half and I think we would have had them, to be quite honest, but that’s just par for the course,” he said.
Certainly the weather should be better for this week’s match against the Pirates, and Bremner thinks the Highlanders have youth on their side.
“It’s a very young team and a development year for the club. I think they’re just learning how to get there and what it takes, and if everything goes according to plan I think we may come away with a win,” he said.
“You make your own luck, and it’s how well these blokes want to perform week in week out that will tell the tale at the end of the day.”
Bremner said the Highlanders always get a good crowd to watch the matches and the team travels well.
“It’s all part of a learning curve when they’re young. They’re learning that they have to start preparing on the Tuesday, the Wednesday and then on Thursday and Friday just to be ready for the game,” Bremner said.
“You can’t just turn up and play. It’s one of the toughest competitions in NSW country rugby.”
