A group of Under 8s and 10s representatives travelled to Sydney with their families to see the Waratahs beat the Brumbies 26-8.
The boys all wore Waratahs stack hats and waved Waratah flags as they were escorted onto the field to line up and form a guard of honour.
Alliannz Stadium was almost filled to capacity and the atmosphere was electric as the fireworks went off and the players ran past the boys onto the field.
The highlight for the junior Highlanders was meeting some of the players after the match, and signatures and photos were sought from some of the game’s biggest names: Adam Ashley Cooper, Will Skelton, Henry Speight, Tatafu Polota-Nau and Benard Foley were all there.
The short trip had a busy itinerary as the boys also played beach football at Coogee and some saw the sights of Sydney for the first time.
It was a hugely successful weekend which inspired the Inverell Highlanders under 8s and under 10s to set their sights on becoming future Waratahs themselves.
